Why is there not a public hearing required for the sale of public property?

Minnesota State Statue 412.211 gives statutory cities the power to hold, manage control, sell, convey, lease or otherwise dispose of property as its interests require. This property is being held for resale/redevelopment vs property like dedicated parks or dedicated commons, which is subject to different statutes with much higher thresholds and requirements for disposal. That being said, public comment has been taken (if offered) at all of the regular council meetings regarding this district. All prior meeting minutes are available on the City website at www.cityofmound.com and for streaming on LMCC-TV.org. In addition, many articles over the years have appeared in the Laker, the City quarterly newsletter and the website.
