Capital Improvement Plan
The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is a ten-year schedule for the City of Mound's capital improvement expenditures that exceed $10,000 and have a useful life of five or more years. It is a planning tool used to plan for the acquisition and funding of capital improvements for buildings, equipment, parks, vehicles, and other city infrastructure.
Projects & Funding
Even though a capital item may be listed within the CIP schedule, the item is reviewed again before final approval to ensure that there is adequate funding and that the project continues to fall in line with the city's long-term plans. There are occasions where items on the schedule are removed or postponed.
Capital Improvement Plan Review Process
The Capital Improvement Plan document is what is known a as a "working document". Staff continuously reviews and updates the document on a regular basis. The Finance Department provides analysis of funding options.
Capital Project Approval Process
Ultimately, the City Council reviews, discusses, and determines which projects on the CIP will proceed forward and how they will be funded.
