Section 465 – FORTUNE TELLERS
465.01 License Required. It shall be unlawful for any person to practice within the City the art or business of clairvoyant, palm reader, phrenologist, fortune teller, mind reader, astrologer, or any similar act or practice without having first procured a license from the City Council to do so, as hereinafter provided.
465.05 Application for License. Any person desiring to practice any of the arts or business hereinbefore set forth shall make a written application for a license to the City Clerk, which application shall set forth the length of time which such person shall desire to carry on such business and the place within said City where he or she proposes to conduct such art or business. Upon filing of the application and the application fee with the City Clerk, the application shall be presented to the Council for its consideration. If granted by the Council, a license shall be issued by the Clerk. If denied by the Council, the license fee shall be refunded to the applicant. Licenses under this Section 465 shall be issued for a one year period and shall expire on January 31 of each year. The annual fee for every such license shall be established in accordance with the provisions of Section 500 of the City Code.
